Election time already?

Unless you’re in a cave someplace, you’ve already had your fill of political information about all the issues that surround us and the people who desire to make it all better. I’ve always supported our political process and give great credit to those that are willing to step forward to serve. It’s also my bi-annual blog comment about raising awareness for the local folks who are seeking Bemidji School Board positions. These folks can and have made decisions that affect our local Charter Schools……some positive ones and some not so positive. I’ve recently sent out a one question letter to each of the candidates asking them to respond, inviting them to visit any one or all of the 3 local Charter Schools and telling them that whatever they send back will be shared with the over 500 families in our community associated with Charter Schools. Maybe we should consider ourselves a special interest group? Because Charter School families pay taxes to and reside in ISD 31 we have the ability to vote in their election. I’d encourage you to take a moment and have a conversation with one or more of the candidates…..ask them their thoughts on education…..are they bring new ideas/energy to the table? Do they seem to have a single-serving purpose for running? Do they seem like they would be interested and supportive of ALL kids in this area? Let me know what you find out?
